Diamonds in Aruba

Diamonds in Aruba: certified natural and lab-grown stones, loose or set, compared side by side at a private viewing.

Diamonds in Aruba are what the island’s jewelry trade was built on, and they are the heart of what we do. We show certified loose stones from 0.25 carat accents to multi-carat centre stones, natural and lab-grown, and we set them here. The real advantage of buying diamonds in Aruba is comparison: you can see several stones of similar grade side by side, in daylight, in one afternoon. At home, that is hard unless you live near a diamond district.

What to know before you buy diamonds in Aruba

  • Insist on a laboratory certificate you recognise. GIA is the benchmark for natural stones, and IGI is common for lab-grown. We show the report number inscribed on the girdle, and you can check it on the GIA report check before you pay.
  • The saving is mostly tax, not magic. Aruba has no VAT and no US-style sales tax on top of the sticker. However, a small turnover tax is built into prices. Compared with a US purchase, you avoid your home state’s sales tax and get the same stone at a comparable base price. “70% off” signs elsewhere are a reason to walk on. Our tax guide explains it properly.
  • Lab-grown is dramatically cheaper per carat. We show both, so tell us which you want, or ask to compare.
  • Declare it on the way home. US residents have an $800 personal exemption and a flat 3% rate on the next $1,000. Above that, normal duty rates apply. Keep the invoice and certificate together.
  • Appraisals and returns: every diamond we sell comes with an independent appraisal and a written return policy. Ask for both before you decide.

Frequently asked questions

Are diamonds in Aruba cheaper than in the US?

For loose stones and unbranded jewelry they can be, because you avoid US sales tax and Aruba’s jewelers compete on stones. For designer-branded pieces the price is usually the brand’s list price. Compare like for like using the certificate, not the discount on a tag.

Can I have a diamond set into a ring during my stay?

Yes. We set a stone in a stock mounting within a day or two, and make a custom mounting in about a week. Tell us your departure date and we plan around it.

Which certificate should I ask for?

GIA for natural diamonds; GIA or IGI for lab-grown. We hand you the original report, not a photocopy, and you can verify the number online in front of us.
